NSHC’s health coach certification course is designed by clinicians for clinicians and allied health providers working in healthcare and is founded on the evidence of Motivational Interviewing.

Our program is a guided self-study allowing members to study and test on their schedules – no face-to-face time or onsite clinicals are required.  Our program provides the clinician the engagement skills necessary to work with clients on either side of the health spectrum…wellness and prevention or those with active disease.

NSHC’s course will transition the clinician’s traditional mindset of “Do these things” to that which engages clients in a 50/50 partnership in health recognizing the client/patient is the true “change agent”.  Our program provides the conversational and motivational interviewing skills and strategies necessary for the coach to guide their clients to tap into their own motivation to change health behavior.  The coach then safely guides that journey, either as preventative or in the presence of disease or disability.

The NSHC has one program, but testing is different for the clinician as compared to the allied healthcare provider (those without a license to practice clinically)

We are an accredited approved continuing education provider through the ACSM, the CDR, and Scully Health Management, Inc.

NSHC’s program is easy to administer because it is a guided self-study and testing is done using one’s own computer. An organization can have its staff trained through the use of this same self-study. It’s a matter of the organization deciding when their staff will start and finish, and how they want their staff to study the material, be it individually or in groups. We provide guidance in this case if the company so desires.

Certification Exam

Without an active license to practice as a clinician, one needs to select Allied Healthcare Provider-Certificate of Completion Only in the credentials drop down when registering. However, before taking that examination, the person completes their licensure program and receives their clinical license. Then the person notifies us and provides validation of licensure at which time we change the credential from Allied Healthcare Provider to your respective licensed credential. With this process in mind, one needs to decide when is the most appropriate time to purchase and register for NSHC's program. Individuals will typically wait until closer to the time they receive their "active clinical license" before they purchase. You have 12 months from the time of purchase to use NSHC's one complimentary test attempt, so several months out would be an appropriate "wait" time to purchase/register.
