NSHC Health Coaching at-a-Glance!

The National Society of Health Coaches is setting the gold standard for Evidence-based Health Coaching (EBHC™) in clinical practice. The model was first introduced in the summer of 2011 at the First Carolina Care CoachClinic™ in Pinehurst, NC.

NSHC uses real-life clinical scenarios that simulate patient/client conversation to which you select the most appropriate responses as a health coach. A score for each scenario is given, as well as rationale for each response to assist you in learning why certain responses are more appropriate than others. Members may access NSHC Skills Practice area online as often as you like.

NSHC is the only organization to offer a robust health coach certification by providing Skills Competency via simulated online video in concert with a multiple choice Certification Exam. Convenient online testing 24/7 makes our certification process easily accessible to those with busy work and personal schedules!

Motivational Interviewing (one of NSHC’s critical program components) is described by its originator as comparable to learning how to speak a new language. It recognizes the patient/client is the "real change agent". The past 25 years of research has shown that when MI is used, people most often have significant improvements in achieving desired outcomes in less time and at less cost. It also reveals that to reach and maintain proficiency in Motivational Interviewing, one needs regular periodic practice with feedback! MI Training Today also offers great MI Workshops, consultations, and personal practice support!

This highly popular, interactive day-long event is conducted onsite by NSHC's Lead Coaches. You're guided through personal self-assessments, interesting case examples, group discussions, integration into clinical practice, outcomes management, and motivational interviewing practice! Each participant receives NSHC's health coach program manual and study materials for use during the event. A minimum of 25 attendees is required. CoachClinic™ CE contact hours may be provided by your own org or through us.
